My name is Falonda, and my journey into birth work comes from both pain and purpose. As an African American mother of six beautiful children and grandmother to fifteen amazing grandchildren, I know firsthand how important support, education, compassion, and advocacy are during pregnancy and childbirth.
I became a mother at just 15 years old. During my own pregnancies and births, I was never given the opportunity, knowledge, or support to experience childbirth in a loving and empowering way. I was never taught about the beauty and importance of skin-to-skin bonding. I was never educated about breastfeeding or encouraged to trust my body. Instead, after giving birth, I was given medication to dry up my milk without truly understanding my options or the benefits breastfeeding could have offered both me and my babies.
For many years, I carried the feeling that birth was something you simply survived instead of something sacred, supported, and celebrated.
That is why I created Life Begins With You Doula Collective.
My mission is to ensure that no woman—especially Black women—feels unseen, unheard, unsupported, or uneducated during one of the most important moments of her life. Every mother deserves to feel empowered, informed, respected, and cared for throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum recovery.
I believe birth should be filled with dignity, compassion, education, advocacy, and love. I want every family I serve to experience the kind of support I wish I had received. Through my work as a doula, I strive to help mothers feel confident in their choices, connected to their babies, and supported every step of the way.
Because every birth story matters.
And every mother deserves better.

As a mother of six and grandmother of fifteen, I understand pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood on a deeply personal level. My experiences allow me to connect with mothers with compassion, honesty, and understanding while providing emotional support throughout every stage of the journey.

I became a doula because I know what it feels like to go through birth without support, education, or guidance. I am passionate about making sure women understand their options, feel heard, and have someone advocating for their wishes so they can approach birth with confidence and peace.
